This was the theme for the annual retreat attended by the Holy Ghost Ladies of Charity, Archdiocese of Washington, at the Loyola Retreat House, Faulkner, Maryland. In response to the theme, Father Kaminski did add a follow up statement ‘but not always easy.’ As Father explained for every situation you’ll ever encounter, you will be offered two options in prayer: “Father, save me,” or “Father, glorify your name!” One will lead to frustration and disillusionment, the other to the greatest wonders in God’s heart. It is the prayer that disarms our self interest and asserts our trust that the Father who made us and who loves us so deeply knows us better than we know ourselves.
The Holy Ghost Ladies of Charity hope all the associations of Ladies of Charity have the opportunity to step away for awhile and get that spiritual lift from a day or weekend retreat. It is by our faith and spiritual being that we as Ladies of Charity are able to serve others as God directs our actions, remembering in our prayers to always respond, ‘Father, glorify your name!’
