Nancy Dunne died at her home on Holmes Beach, FL. She was in no pain and life expired while she was in a deep sleep.
A Memorial Mass will be offered for her at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Holmes Beach on Saturday, October 17. Her wishes were that there be no flowers at her funeral and donations in her name be sent to:

Nancy was initially involved in the work of this Fund because education, especially reading, was paramount in her interests. For the last few years she was a volunteer at the local elementary school tutoring students with learning difficulties, especially reading.
As her dear husband wrote “I will miss her smile and love” … as will we all.
Nancy is a past National President who has been a good friend to all who have been blessed to share life’s journey with her. Nancy has been fighting cancer for several years. The last assembly she was able to attend was our 2007 assembly was in St. Louis. She has always carried a special love for St Vincent’s Parish … let us unite in prayers for Nancy’s peace as well as for her husband Jim and their family.

Nancy Dunne was a true Lady of Charity. She believed in giving a hand up as evdenced by her effort to help the children with reading difficulties. My heart goes out to her family at this sad time, but I am sure that she has a special place in Heaven. I will miss her dignified presence at the National Assemblies and have many fond memories of her. Rest in peace, good Lady of Charity.

I offer my deepest sympathy, love and support to you and your family upon the death of our precious Nancy. Nancy lead by example. I am blessed to have witness Nancy’s love, dedication and perseverence while establishing the Diane Downey Reading Enrichment Fund for LCUSA. When I think of Nancy, I picture her reading to children or teaching them to read. I am thankful that Nancy touched my life in a most special way.

I only met Nancy at the 2007 National Assembly. Since I had heard so much about her, it was so special to have her join our group at the table for the banquet. How wonderful that she was able to take part in this 150 Anniversary of the Ladies of Charity! May she rest in peace and watch over our national organization with the love and care she demonstrated in her lifetime.
We will say a mass here at Carroll Manor Nursing and Rehabilitaion Center in thanksgiving for the life and service of Nancy. Peace to her family and to those she loved today and always.

I never met Nancy personally but I feel that I know her. During the short time that I served on the board, there were numerous times that I heard of the generous spirit of Nancy. She truly “is” a Lady of Charity.
May her life of generosity inspire others to continue their works of charity!
I did not know Nancy personally but from everything I have heard about her she exemplified a Lady of Charity in her gentleness and generosity in serving others. I am sorry I did not have the privilege of serving with her on the board. My condolences and prayers for her family.
It is very difficult for me to express how sad I am for the loss oNancy. She was not only my good friend but also my mentor. She was always the primary example of what St. Vincent and St Louise hoped all of us would become…a great Lady of Charity. A task was never to big or too small fo her. I know God has her in His Hands.
Nancy was a kind and generous soul. I knew her to be thoughtful, a hard worker, a real giver. A friend of my Mom, Helen.
Nancy will always be remembered by me as the quintessential Lady of Charity who lead LCUSA quietly and gently with unswerving conviction and vision. While serving on the Board with her she was always one who strengthened me with her encouragement and support. What a blessing to have journeyed with Nancy as a friend, mentor and Lady of Charity.
