On November 9, 2021, Ladies of Charity observed World Day of the Poor with a service project assembling large gift bags for distribution to the homebound at Christmas. About 35 ladies attended. The day began with a short prayer service led by Spiritual Moderator Holly Walter. The bags included several personal care items, cleaning products, prayer shawls, small throw blankets, first-aid kits and many more items. The bags were colorful and decorated for Christmas mostly by the Junior Ladies of Charity. Over 400 bags were filled on that day, to be distributed by Catholic Charities case workers and staff.

Afterwards, a “box lunch” of Wegman’s subs, chips, fresh baked cookie and a drink was enjoyed by everyone. Many thanks to all the volunteers, Julie Lulek, LOC Director and Carolyn Stewart who both assembled the products and set up the process for the ladies to work the “assembly line.”

A spirit of working together and fellowship was felt by all!
