The Ladies of Charity (LOC), St. Jane Frances de Chantal Parish, Bethesda, MD, held a retirement luncheon on July 21, 2021, at Normandie Farm Restaurant, Potomac, MD, for retiring LOC President, Maryann Rooney, in recognition of her (more than) 20 years of faithful service.
Eight ladies attended and presented Maryann with a basket of assorted violets.
Incoming St. Jane Frances de Chantal LOC president, Mary Hand, praised Maryann for sustaining and nurturing the unit’s service ministry at Bethesda Health and Rehabilitation Services during her tenure. In addition to her role as St. Jane’s President, Maryann served two terms as President, LOC Archdiocese of Washington (ADW), from 2008-2012. Throughout her time, she modeled Vincentian spirituality and cultivated new members, including one member (Mary Hand) whom she recruited as the LOC ADW President for the 2014-2016 term. Though Maryann plans to continue with the St. Jane’s LOC unit, the luncheon was an important occasion to mark Maryann’s retirement milestone and express gratitude for her remarkable service.
