Remembering Jackie Jo Smith, Lady of Charity

Jackie Jo Smith, 75, of Bay Minette, Ala., formerly of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Oct. 21 at her home amid family members. Jackie had been a member of Ladies of Charity of Chattanooga (LOCC) since the 1990’s, and was board president when the present location of LOCC was bought. She helped guide the renovations and the move into the new building. Jackie has been described as a “spunky lady” whose heart was with LOCC.

Upon retirement from social work, she moved to south Alabama to be near her children but felt that Chattanooga was her home. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ladies of Charity of Chattanooga.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held in Chattanooga in the near future. When the date and location are set, LOCC members will be notified via email.
