Each January 1st, the Town of North Beach holds a Polar Bear Plunge, where adventurous people of all ages run into the Chesapeake Bay for a few minutes. This is a fund raising event for Charity as well as a fun event for the town. The Calvert County Ladies of Charity organization was the recipient of the proceeds from the Polar Bear Plunge in North Beach, MD January 1, 2020.

The Ladies were asked to man the tables where all “plungers” had to sign a waiver before going to the registration desk to sign in. We had gold hats made to identify the LOC members.

The Town of North Beach also gave the LOC the exclusive right to sell snacks at the event. We manned the Papa John’s pizza wagon and were allowed to keep the profits.

The Ladies are great bakers and we also had a baked goods table with lots of goodies for sale. Our very own “crab” lady mingled with the plungers and spectators as well soliciting do-nations.
