Saturdays With the Sisters

Saturdays with the Sisters, Albany, NY, photo 1, 5-29-15.docxIn September of 2014, under the direction of Mary Clinton, The Ladies of Charity in Albany, NY started a new ministry which is called Ministry with the Daughters of Charity, located at St. Louise House.

The Ladies of Charity are very fortunate to have the Daughters in our community as they are such a rich source of stories and experiences spanning over 75 years for some. Their commitment to serving others with such humility, love and intelligent practicality encourage conversations that are very inspiring and enjoyable. Words cannot adequately express the connections that have that have formed between the Ladies and the Sisters since the ministry has started.

Gatherings are held on the 4th Saturday of each month for a few hours. Activities have included writing Christmas cards to soldiers, sing-a-longs, just visiting with the Sisters and sharing information about other LOC ministries with them. In April our LOC brought one of our ministries, Mary’s Corner, to the Sisters. Mary’s Corner provides new parents with resources like diapers, baby food, baby wash, clothing, baby equipment and books. This program serves infants to four-year-olds. Keeping clothing sorted is a constant need so we brought bins of clothing and the Sisters helped sort and put new spring/summer outfits together. Both organizations enjoyed being involved in service and the Ladies of Charity were thrilled to be in their delightful company of the sisters and for their assistance on behalf of the families we serve. It was a great day for all of us.
