Pittsburgh Assembly Letter to Presidents

February 1, 2009

Dear Presidents:

OUR LCUSA NATIONAL PRESIDENT AND PITTSBURGH CO-CHAIRS are excited to extend an invitation to all Ladies of Charity in the hope that many will be able to attend our assembly. 2009 is the 50th Anniversary of the Pittsburgh Ladies of Charity. We’d love to have you all come and help us celebrate

“LADIES OF CHARITY: BRIDGING HOPE, SERVICE & LOVE” is the theme of the 9th annual LCUSA National Assembly to be held Thursday, Oct. 29th through Saturday, Oct. 31st in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the historic Omni-William Penn Hotel.

OUR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: Is a time for us as Ladies of Charity to gather and experience inspirational speakers, educational workshops, an LCUSA National Business Meeting, individual regional meetings, celebrate liturgy and socialize together.

ASSEMBLY FEES AND ROOM RATES: We anticipate the entire assembly fee to be $125.00. This fee includes a continental breakfast on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; dinner on Thursday evening, lunch and river cruise on Friday and your banquet dinner on Saturday. It also includes speakers, presentations and workshop fees. Room rates in the luxurious Omni-William Penn Hotel are also a bargain, $125.00 + tax per room each night. A room can accommodate one to four people and your rate can be divided between however many share accommodations. Wednesday and Sunday will be tour days. There will be a nominal fee each day for the tours, which are still in the planning stage. Registration forms will be sent out this spring along with complete information on booking your hotel room, getting from the airport and signing up for the tours.

We would like to have all of our Ladies of Charity Presidents attend. If the economy is making it difficult for a president to attend, maybe your group could consider helping with the cost of sending your president, and possibly another member to the assembly?

TRAVEL: A scenic trip to Pittsburgh can be made by car pooling or chartering a motor coach. This method of transportation could be made by members in states bordering Pennsylvania and also by those a litter further away. The Pittsburgh ladies have taken a motor coach to New Jersey, Washington DC, Williamsburg, Buffalo and St. Louis. For those traveling by air, the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport is a thirty minute drive from the city.

Please share this exciting information with your members and start planning to see familiar faces and meet new friends.
