The new orphanage in Tolangaro was completed in September 2009. Before the children can move from the old building into the new building, a fence surrounding the perimeter must be completed. It is not safe for occupancy until the fence is completed and the area is secured. Some trees have been planted, and there are plans for a vegetable garden, but the fence project is still underway. This new structure will provide a home for 50 to 60 children.
In addition to fencing, there are the constant needs of food, school supplies, clothing, furniture, bed linens, blankets, towels, medical supplies, and firewood. In other parts of Madagascar, there is a need for seeds, such as rice, and goats and chickens, which provide food as well as a business opportunity for local women living in poverty.
Please consider making a donation to the Ladies of Charity who volunteer in Madagascar. The first association began in 1988, when some local women decided to care for 15 children living on the streets. Today, there are 15 associations comprised of 150 volunteers serving over 6000 people.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
