Emma Meredith, a Lady of Charity in the Evansville, Ind. Association, was selected by the Association of Veterans Affairs Social Workers (AVASW) as 2014 Social Worker of the Year. Emma was nominated and selected by her peers nationwide for this prestigious award. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville and holds numerous professional certifications. For 10 years, once a month, Emma had a “personal mission” to provide clothing and other items to Ft. Campbell, Ky. soldiers and their dependents who were living below the poverty level. Initially she transported items in her car, then a van, then a two ton truck. She received a hand written thank you note from the commander at the time, General David Petraeus. Emma is secretary of the Evansville LOC.

Emma,
Thank you for your dedicated service. We are very proud of you. You are a credit to the Ladies of Charity USA!
Congratulations, Emma! Our Association here in Evansville, are so very proud to call you “OURS”. Keep being just who you are, you can’t beat what God ordains!! We love you!
Congratulations, Emma! How appropriate that a LOC be awarded such an honor in view of the fact that St. Louise de Marillac is the patron saint of social workers! The Vincentian Family in heaven is, no doubt, applauding!
