The Association of Ladies of Charity, Milwaukee, Wisconsin serves children in need with clothing for school. With no cost to the family, school social workers send families to our store at 4th and Brown in Milwaukee. At our store, families are met by a Lady of Charity who becomes a personal shopper for the family. Every effort is made to supply a modest wardrobe of new and gently used clothing. Items such as pants, tops, sweaters, winter jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, socks and underwear are given to each child.
The Kathleen Hager Grant Award of $900 was used to purchase new underwear and socks. Each child is given 5 new pairs of socks and underwear. As of September 25th, 2015, 215 children have been outfitted for school.
We depend on the generosity of our community to pay for our rent, utilities and other expenses, and to supply the clothing for the families.
Thank you to the National Ladies of Charity for the Hager Award.
