After thoughtful consideration of the organization’s needs and goals, LCUSA has decided to create a new class of membership: Individual Membership. This new membership provides an opportunity to support and engage in the mission and purpose of LCUSA/AIC. The criteria for individual memberships was worked out over a period of four years beginning with a meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee on November 14, 2005.
Expanding the LCUSA membership was a critical component in the design of the strategic plan developed by members of the Board of Directors at a special retreat day conducted by consultant F. Dale Whitten on April 7, 2005. One of the goals of the plan was to revitalize individual commitment and promote growth in membership.
The Ladies of Charity was the first creation of St. Vincent de Paul’s vast genius of charity. Rev. Charles Souvay, CM, a past Superior General of the Vincentian Fathers reminded us, and urged: “Be always, everywhere, pioneers for charity”. Our generation also searches for ways to be open to creativity and interdependence; to be authentic expressions of the tradition, filled with the fullness of God.
We stand on the shoulders of our founders and move into the future along paths they began, even as we blaze new trails. We are sent to the poor. For their tomorrow, we give our today. Reflection: Proverbs 9:1-6 †
