Dear Ladies of Charity,
For over 150 years, the Ladies of Charity USA have been committed to compassionately assisting people who live in poverty. In the 21st century, we seek ways to continue the mission of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, by reweaving the fabric of society through partnering with poor people and others in works of charity and justice. We extend our efforts beyond serving the immediate needs of the poor through advocacy. It is associated with perspectives of justice and human rights.
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to impact our nation’s health and well-being, with no end in sight. As we Ladies take appropriate action to protect ourselves, our families, and vulnerable community members, we are already seeing what this crisis will mean for our critical work–more hunger, more unemployment, more housing insecurity, and more calls for our help. Congress and the Administration are currently negotiating another response package, and a vote could come within days. It is imperative that we make our voices and those of our friends in need heard in the halls of power. Tell Congress that any additional legislation to combat the COVID-19 pandemic must prioritize people that are hungry, homeless, and jobless, as well as support the organizations on the front lines that serve them.

They voted on it this morning and it passed in the Senate and was adjusted as the democrats demanded for the working families and the poor and not corporations. Now it goes to the House and then to the President!!
Thank you for your comment JoAnn. As we move forward in this current situation we must continue to be sure that the people who need our help are always taken into consideration in any new legislation that comes down the pike. We hope all will continue to remind our representatives that we are monitoring everything that is being done.
