Connor Patrick, Cadet Colonel, Student Senate Co-President, and son of Albany, NY Lady of Charity, Maria Patrick, decided to support his family’s passion to get books in the hands of the kids in his hometown of Cohoes, NY. Connor attends La Salle Institute in Troy, NY where he proposed this project to the Student Senate who organized a Dress-Down Day Fundraiser during Homecoming Week. The theme was “College Pride” which they thought was the perfect way to raise money for a youth literacy program within Mary’s Corner, a Ladies of Charity program supporting children up to age 4. The entire student body and faculty helped by making donations in exchange for being allowed to “dress-down” and wear a piece of clothing from a college or university. The event was an outstanding success, raising $1,332 and the children and families at Mary’s Corner were thrilled to receive such wonderfully selected books.
Pictured is Connor presenting the check to Corrine Falope, Reading Coordinator for Mary’s Corner, at Book House in Albany, NY. They so enjoyed choosing books for the children.
