The Ladies of Charity Calvert County provided Thanksgiving meal groceries to 240 Food Pantry client families. We started on Monday, November 15, 2021 with the non-perishable packing marathon at the End Hunger Warehouse, continuing into Friday’s preparation and delivery to the North Beach Senior Apartments, and culminating with the HUGE undertaking that was Saturday’s distribution.
We served pantry clients in their cars for a two hour period. Greeters checked in the families, packers assembled the groceries, and runners brought the groceries to the cars and loaded them. The operation went very smoothly thanks to our logistics guru. Our volunteers included members, parishioners, spouses and children.
The Thanksgiving meal groceries included turkeys, hams, pies, produce, rolls, butter, stuffing, cranberry sauce and vegetables. We were blessed to receive many generous donations to off-set the costs of the groceries.
