On March 24, 2018, 15 women, under the leadership of President Fran Palochak, were installed as founding members of the Ladies of Charity from the Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico. Bishop James S. Wall celebrated the investiture Mass. LCUSA President Suzanne Johnson and Spiritual Moderator Sister Elizabeth Racko, DC, assisted the Bishop with the installation of the Ladies. It was a joyful and inspiring day, beginning with a morning retreat offered by Sister Mary Frate, DC, from Tuba City, Arizona. Lunch was shared, followed by Mass.
Bishop Wall was pleased that this new association “completed the Vincentian Family in the Diocese of Gallup.” He shared some of the impressive history of the Ladies of Charity.
The Gallup LOC use their talents and skills to help the poor. They are volunteers who love Jesus and will focus their work on helping Catholic Charities with the drop-in breakfast. The Gallup LOC will also offer a street health ministry organized by a nurse who is a LOC, and volunteer doctors. Community prayer is an important part of their healing ministry.
