The Ladies of Charity, St. Vincent De Paul/Guardian Angel in St. Louis, Missouri, walked with a purpose on Saturday, September 11. The first annual WALK was a great success. Below clearing skies after a special presentation of roses to past presidents and a warm-up presented by one of our young soon- to- be members, the walkers were off. The “Arch Rivals” roller derby club led the way. A deejay donated his time for the morning to get everyone in the spirit. There were one and three mile walkers.
After the WALK participants snacked on fruit and snacks and visited tables with information on volunteering opportunities. Of course the music attracted the kids to a little dancing. “It was a grand day,” said Sister Mary Virginia Clark, chapter spiritual moderator.
The proceeds are still being tabulated but we expect to have raised $4000 and more importantly, spread the word about our mission of serving our neighbors in the spirit of St. Vincent and St. Louise.
