Nearly 200 Ladies of Charity attended the 2008 National Assembly in San Antonio hosted by the Ladies of Texas. Women Acting Together Against Poverty‚ was the theme for our Assembly held September 10 through 14. As Hurricane Ike hit eastern Texas and many evacuees arrived at the hotel, the ladies put into action what they had heard in the presentation‚ “Charity and Justice: Acting Together Requires Both”‚ by taking up a collection to feed the displaced families as well as volunteering at a food bank. Tours of San Antonio, the missions and of course, the Alamo, were offered to assembly participants.
