Dear AIC presidents and volunteer friends,
We are happy to share with you some news from the tree-planting campaign launched on 1st September 2024 throughout the AIC network, to mark the “Season of Creation” that our dear Pope Francis invited us to celebrate every year:
- In Spain: On 26th October 2024, volunteers from Santander planted 6 hazel trees in a public park thanks to a partnership with the municipality of Santander and with the help of beneficiaries of the “Low-cost cooking” project of the Daughters of Charity (watch the video).
- In Indonesia: On 30th November 2024, volunteers from Surabaya planted 75 fruit trees (lemon, avocado, durian and lime) in the garden of the Daughters of Charity.
- In Madagascar: Eight volunteers from Manakara and around a hundred mothers who are project beneficiaries planted 600 trees on 8th and 12th March 2025, as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day. The young plants (eucalyptus, coffee) were provided by the Ministry of the Environment, and each participant also brought fruit trees.
- In the Philippines: Volunteers are continuing to plant trees as part of the celebrations of AIC-Philippines’ 75th anniversary in June 2025. Among others, several plantings are planned in the city of Naga, for women prisoners, residents around the Yabu River and beneficiaries of a project combating homelessness.
We remind you that each association is invited to take part by planting at least one tree, and more if possible. We are therefore eager to hear from you and to see more photos and information on the progress of plantings in all the countries where AIC is present.
Please send your photos, videos and testimonies to the International Secretariat (info@aic-international.org).
You can take photos or film, for example:
- People planting trees, or taking care of them (watering, weeding, etc.)
- The growth of trees: choose one of the seedlings and take photos of it regularly to show its development.
