Buffalo Ladies of Charity – Spiritual Growth Through “Mass Mobs”

The Buffalo, NY Ladies of Charity association was established over 80 years ago, partnering with Catholic Charities. Today, their membership includes more than 300 women working together to provide clothing, baby bags, school supplies, household goods, etc. while also maintaining a thrift store in Buffalo.

Motivated by a renewed understanding of the special charism as a member of the Vincentian family and a rich history, their president Kathy Roseti, last year initiated a special committee to ensure Vincentian Spirituality was an integral part of their organization.

At the suggestion of Kathy’s now co-president and chair of the Spirituality committee, Kathleen Sieracki, they began holding their own “Mass Mobs”; worshiping together at various Masses held in the Diocese of Buffalo. The first was in recognition of the 407th Anniversary of the Ladies of Charity at St. Benedict’s Church and recently at Our Lady of Victory Shrine and Basilica to celebrate the Feast of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American Saint, and founder of the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph.

Those who have participated in these “Mass Mobs” have found it enriching in their own spiritual growth and in their commitment to the Ladies of Charity’s Vincentian Charism. They plan to continue their “Mass Mobs” at churches throughout the diocese!
